Native Americans’ Day parade: ‘Something just hits home’

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — A celebration of Indigenous identity and presence was front and center in downtown Sioux Falls Monday on Native Americans’ Day in South Dakota, and this meant a lively parade: a shared celebration which was, nevertheless, personal.

“Brought tears to my eyes, and something just hits home and makes me feel good about myself, knowing that my people, they’re here,” attendee Gerald Weasel Jr. of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe said.
