Farmer’s campaign platform runs the gamut from economics to addressing public health, veterans services and child care concerns
A second candidate has announced his aspiration to become the next member of the Yamhill County Board of Commissioners.
Marvin Bernards, former owner of the now-defunct Bernards Farms produce stand west of McMinnville, filed in early October for the Position 1 spot currently held by Kit Johnston. Johnston had announced he will run for reelection but has yet to file an application with the county.
A diverse background
Bernards brings a variety of work and educational experiences to his candidacy for commissioner. He served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army from 2001 to 2005, then took a job at Evergreen Unmanned Systems, which provides support systems for unmanned aircraft systems, from 2005 to 2011, when he opened Bernards Farms.
