Sarasota man gets 40-year sentence after setting up shooting against emergency crews with 911 call

SARASOTA, Fla. — A 38-year-old man was sentenced to 40 years in prison after being found guilty of opening fire against Sarasota County paramedics as they responded to a 911 call in 2019.

Tyran Young was convicted thirteen times for charges like aggravated assault on a firefighter, shooting into a vehicle, misuse of the 911 services as well as other charges. He was also sentenced to 20 years of probation, Sarasota County police said.
