Streu’s Pharmacy to close retail store, shift focus to long-term care services

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) — After more than seven decades of serving walk-in customers, a long-standing Green Bay pharmacy is preparing for a major change.

Streu’s Pharmacy, located on Main Street in downtown Green Bay, announced it will close its community retail store on November 30, 2025, as part of a strategic move to focus entirely on long-term care pharmacy services.

The decision comes as many independent pharmacies across the country struggle to remain financially viable. According to Streu’s leadership, declining reimbursement rates from pharmacy benefit managers — in many cases paying less than the actual cost of medications — have made the traditional retail model unsustainable.

“Streu’s Pharmacy has been serving our community for over 70 years,” said Nicole Schreiner, CEO of Streu’s Pharmacy. “We have made the decision to restructure our organization and focus only on our long-term care services and discontinue serving patients in our community pharmacy.”…
