LITTLE ROCK — The number of Arkansas state government employees furloughed as a result of the federal government shutdown totals about 235 currently. That is down from the 249 furloughed at the beginning of the month.
The number of furloughed workers peaked at 264 at the beginning of the shutdown. Of the 235 currently furloughed, 167 are employees of the Arkansas Department of Military. Thirty-seven are employees of the Arkansas Department of Human Services; 22 work at the Arkansas Department of Health; and eight work for the Arkansas Department of Agriculture.
