LUBBOCK, Texas — The City of Lubbock is reminding residents to not handle bats after several rabid bats have been found across the community.
The City is encouraging citizens to report suspicious animals to Lubbock Animal Services (LAS) at (806) 775-3357 or (806) 775-2057. Any mammal can carry rabies, with five high risk wildlife animals most likely to carry the disease: coyotes, bats, skunks, foxes and raccoons. If any of these animals are seen, the City asks to not approach them or attempt to interact with them.
