New Orleans health director encourages COVID vaccination amid shifting CDC guidelines

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – In a major reversal, the Centers for Disease Control recently shifted its universal recommendation for the COVID-19 vaccine. If anyone wants the shot, the CDC urges patients to talk with their doctor first.

In a statement, CDC acting director Jim O’Neill wrote, “Informed consent is back. CDC’s 2022 blanket recommendation for perpetual COVID-19 boosters deterred health care providers from talking about the risks and benefits of vaccination for the individual patient or parent. That changes today.”
