ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) – A small park in downtown St. Louis that has had trouble with crime in the past could soon be converted into a parking lot.
A city committee advanced a proposal this week to sell Interco Plaza to the Starwood Group for $257,000. Starwood owns the building just north of the green space. The building houses Square employees, and St. Patrick Center sits just to the south.
In 2021, a homeless encampment took over the plaza, and there was drug use, assaults and a deadly shooting. The space has since been fenced off, but there are still unhoused people who hang out in the area…
