San Antonio highway crashes onto list of riskiest roads in U.S.

Ahead of Halloween weekend, Allstate is issuing a warning to San Antonio drivers. The global insurance giant says Exit 578 to Pecan Valley Drive on I-10 is the 10th most risky road segment in the United States.

The data was culled from Allstate’s safe driving program, Drivewise, which shows that aggressive driving behavior in major U.S. cities is especially common on the weekends, peaking between 11 am and 5 pm. According to the National Safety Council’s most recent federal car crash statistics, fatal car crashes are more frequent on weekends, especially on Saturdays.

Alamo City is no different. Allstate’s analysis says the I-10 stretch is most dangerous between 11 am-5 pm on Saturdays and Sundays, and the safest times are between 7-11 pm on Fridays and Saturdays. Surprisingly, rush hour times and post-last call drive times are both less hazardous than weekend afternoons. Perhaps it’s a rush to wrap up errands?…
