Springfield Sub Shop removes ATM after second burglary attempt in two years

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) – A popular Springfield sandwich shop reopened after burglars attempted to steal its ATM, but customers will notice one significant change: the cash machine is gone.

The Sub Shop was targeted by burglars on Sept. 30 for the second time in two years. Owner Ethan Seehusen said the would-be thieves first tried to smash a window with a brick, then rammed the side of the building with a truck before attempting to steal money from the ATM.

When the restaurant reopened Oct. 6, the ATM had been permanently removed as a deterrent to future theft attempts…
