NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — The Newport News City Council recently approved changes to the Vehicle License Fee (VLF) billing schedule.
According to a release, beginning in 2026, the VLF due date will move from Dec. 5 to June 5 in order to reduce the number of bills generated for vehicles sold before Jan. 1. Officials said this will minimize the need for refunds, ultimately making the system more efficient.
