The owners of a Thoroughbred colt have sued an Ocala equine veterinarian for allegedly performing a “pin firing” on their horse, a recently prohibited procedure that makes the animal ineligible to compete at most racetracks across the United States.
Linda B. Roach and Robert Fetkin filed the lawsuit on behalf of their company, Small Batch Thoroughbreds, LLC, against the Peterson Smith Equine Hospital, LLC, in the Fifth Judicial Circuit Court of Marion County on October 6.
According to the complaint, the company owns a Kentucky-bred Thoroughbred colt that is now named “Rude Procedure.” That colt was sent to Florida for pre-training with the intention of selling him as a “two-year-old training sale” in the spring of 2025…
