Baqir, school board member living in Pakistan, ousted in Christina

Why Should Delaware Care? Earlier this year, lawmakers passed a bill that required school board members to live within their district’s footprint for at least 75% of a given year. Gov. Matt Meyer then signed it into law. On Wednesday, the Christina Board of Education cited the new rules when declaring a vacancy in one of its seat.

Naveed Baqir, the Christina school board member who has represented a Newark-area district from a residence in Pakistan, is no longer in the elected position.
