Sioux Falls man arrested for robbery turned assault

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — A Sioux Falls man is behind bars following a robbery that turned into an aggravated assault.

According to Sioux Falls Police Department Lt. Nick Butler, just before 1 a.m. Wednesday morning, officers responded to the 1000 block of North Minnesota Avenue for a weapons violation.

When officers arrived on scene, victims reported being confronted by a known acquaintance outside a building. The suspect approached the victims and demanded property.

One of the victims refused, and the suspect produced a handgun, hit a victim with the gun, then fired a shot into the air before fleeing the scene. Only minor injuries were reported from the victim hit with the gun. No one was shot…
