SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — The amount of houses for sale in the country is down by 16.8%, according to a report from the Realtors Association of the Sioux Empire (RASE).

Within the city of Sioux Falls, inventory has dropped by nearly 30% compared to 2024. But houses are spending more time on the market, an average of 88 days for the month of September, according to the RASE report. For the year, the average is 85 days, up 6.3%.

In almost all price ranges, the number of homes on the market decreased compared to last year, the report said. Prices have just slightly risen, up 2.5% for previously owned homes and 2.1% for new builds.
The number of closed sales in Sioux Falls has dropped nearly 21% for the year. In all price ranges and types of property, sellers are receiving 98.3% of their asking price. Condos and townhouses are spending more days on the market than single-family homes.
