ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — An Albany County jury has convicted a Watervliet man of an April 2024 dirt bike crash that left a University at Albany student severely injured and then leaving the scene of the crash. Austin Breyette was found guilty of second-degree assault, leaving the scene of a personal injury accident, and two counts of tampering with physical evidence.

The jury convicted Breyette of hitting Alexa Kropf while illegally driving a dirt bike on a public road in Albany on April 27, 2024. The Albany County District Attorney’s Office said Breyette drove the wrong way on Hudson Avenue before he made a U-turn, going at speeds up to 50 mph. He encountered a group of UAlbany students standing near parked cars and struck Kropf.
During the opening statements on October 7, prosecutors said Kropf’s body was ripped from her shoes during the collision.
