Former Maryland Governor Larry Hogan, a Republican, trailed Democratic Governor Wes Moore in an early poll of the state’s 2026 gubernatorial race published on Thursday.

The new poll published by The Baltimore Banner suggests that Hogan would start his campaign trailing Moore if he chooses to run. But Moore’s lead was only in the single digits. Democrats are hoping to keep states like Maryland off the board, while expanding the map into more conservative states, particularly if Trump’s approval rating is low next November.
