October 16, 2025: Charlottesville is willing to settle a lawsuit against the new zoning code

Much of what we take as common knowledge in 2025 was not even close to settled in the first half of the 18th Century. Natural philosophers such as William Whiston studied and researched all manner of items including what caused natural disasters. In 1736, Whiston had predicted that a comet would collide with the earth, a prediction that turned out to not have happened.
