Pedestrian dies after crash on North Broadway in Knoxville

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — A woman died after being struck by a vehicle on North Broadway Thursday morning, the Knoxville Police Department said.

Witnesses said the woman stepped into oncoming traffic without looking at Walker Boulevard around 6:40 a.m. The driver said he did not see the woman, and he immediately stopped to help her until the paramedics arrived. They took her to the hospital, and she died shortly after arriving.

Multiple lanes of North Broadway were closed while police investigated the crash. The road fully reopened around 8:10 a.m. KPD shared a picture of the scene at 6:55 a.m.
