Knoxville man charged with attempted murder, reportedly asked victim if he wanted to die

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — A Knoxville man is facing charges, including attempted murder and theft, following a reported shooting early Tuesday morning.

Officers responded to a home on Jones Creek Road just before 5 a.m., where a victim told investigators that a man entered the home, assaulted a woman, and pointed a handgun at him before asking if he wanted to die, according to court records.

The victim tried to leave in his car but was blocked in by the suspect’s vehicle. When the suspect returned to his vehicle, he reportedly fired several rounds into the victim’s car, which struck the victim in the right temple and shoulder.

Officers arrested the suspect in a traffic stop along Asheville Highway and further investigation revealed that the vehicle had been reported stolen.
