Vehicle causes $40,000 in damage to Lubbock Lake Landmark’s only ADA-accessible trail

LUBBOCK, Texas — Staff at the Lubbock Lake Landmark are assessing thousands of dollars in damage after someone drove a vehicle onto the property over the weekend, destroying part of the site’s only ADA-accessible trail.

Operations Manager Joseph Pitts said the driver entered the property unlawfully on the western perimeter sometime late Saturday night, Oct. 4, or early Sunday morning, Oct. 5.

“They broke through our fence and drove right through it,” Pitts said. “They did a complete loop on the Wildflower Trail, damaged upwards of 500 feet of the trail, and took out three of our information text panels.”
