SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) — A $100 million fundraising plan that seemed to be a grand slam for Salt Lake City’s beleaguered Ballpark Neighborhood may not be as mighty a hit as first envisioned.
In January 2023, Salt Lake Mayor Erin Mendenhall pitched a “private-public partnership” to raise the money specifically for the Ballpark community, an investment she said the city has never seen before — and the foundation for a well-known family would take up the charge.
“So with our city as their partner, I’m excited to announce that the Larry H. & Gail Miller Family Foundation has agreed to lead a $100 million private-public partnership,” Mendenhall said in her State of the City address in January 2023, “A fundraising initiative to provide a historic human-centered investment in the Ballpark Neighborhood.”
