Throwback Thursday: The Arkota Ballroom

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) – On this edition of Throwback Thursday, Lori Kent with the Local Lou Podcast tells us about the Arkota Ballroom.

“I found in the 1920s, Thomas Archer looked around Siouxalls, and he thought, ‘You know, we really need a ballroom.’ Which, to me, sounds wild, but, at the time, ballrooms were all the rage. They were definitely a gathering spot. You know, this is the prohibition era, and it’s also a time before cell phones and social media,” said Kent.

The Arkota ballroom was built in 1925 at 13th Street and Phillips Avenue in Sioux Falls, and the building is still in use today…
