Owensboro Police drug investigations lead to federal indictments

HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – Three people are in custody after three unrelated investigations by Owensboro police lead to federal indictments.

According to a post from the Owensboro Police Department, the Federal Grand Jury out of the Western District of Kentucky indicted Max Bellamy, 21; William Merriweather, 27; and Jesse Santiago-Gonzalez, 22. Merriweather and Bellamy were both charged with possession to distribute fentanyl, however Merriweather was also charged with possession of a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person. Santiago-Gonzalez was charged with conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute controlled substances, three counts of distribution of carfentanil, possession with intent to distribute controlled substances, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person and possession of a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking.

OPD says they will continue to work with federal partners to prosecute criminals who bring dangerous drugs into the community…
