Kalamazoo Public Schools to visit homes of truant students this weekend

KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – You may get a knock on your door this weekend, and it won’t be trick-or-treaters.

Kalamazoo Public Schools superintendent Darrin Slade says he and a group of staff volunteers will be visiting the homes of students who have been missing too many classes.

“We’re doing this once a month for the rest of the year. We want our students in school,” says Slade. “We need our students in school and we’re gonna have real conversations when we interact with our parents this weekend.”…
