Deputy Chief retires after 37 years with MPD

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Memphis Police Department Deputy Chief, Joe Oakley, retires after 37 years of service with the department, according to MPD.

He began his career working for MPD on June 5, 1989, training as a police recruit. When he completed his training in the same year, he became a uniform patrol for the Organized Crime Unit.
