Firefighters rescued a man from a burning mobile home in Lafayette Parish and another person got out on their own, but the family dog did not survive. The two people were taken to the hospital but both are expected to recover. The mobile home was destroyed by the flames. The Scott Fire Department reported it happened on Pope Drive, which is located between Vatican and Carencro, on Thursday, October 16, just before 3 p.m. Officials said firefighters arrived on the scene to find the mobile home engulfed in flames and learned someone was still inside. They added the man was found unconscious near the back door and was quickly pulled to safety.
