BELLE CHASSE, La. (WVUE) – Local businesses are reporting significant increases in customers after the state suspended tolls on the Belle Chasse Bridge nearly two weeks ago.
Austin Plaisance, owner of B&B Tackle at the foot of the Belle Chasse Bridge, said his business has increased 30% since the toll suspension. He is now seeing previous customers who had avoided crossing the bridge.
“It’s a lot of those customers who want to come in and say hi. They were traditional customers that we didn’t see for four months. It seems like everyone is trying to support us as small businesses, knowing we got messed up as far as these tolls went,” Plaisance said…
