Asian buffet abruptly shutters on busy San Antonio road months after opening

The hangar-shaped building at 1611 Culebra Road has once again found itself vacant after its most recent tenant, an Asian buffet concept, shuttered abruptly. The short-lived SL Asian Food launched earlier this year, bringing fried rice and teriyaki chicken to the busy San Antonio street.

Jesse Rodriguez, the apparent landlord of the property, posted about the now-empty location on the San Antonio Restaurants Facebook group, informing its more than 300,000 members that he is seeking a new tenant for the space.

“Unfortunately my tenants had a family medical emergency and was forced to closed down, and leave town,” Rodriguez wrote in the post. “People are still arriving on a daily basis and calling my number posted outside of building to place orders.”

MySA attempted to contact Rodriguez but did not hear back at the time of publication. We also attempted to call SL Asian Food directly to confirm the reason behind the closure, but the phone number listed on the restaurant’s website had been changed. The restaurant’s online ordering site through Menufy remains open, though it is not advised to place orders as the restaurant is very much closed…
