BOSSIER CITY, La. – The Bossier Chamber of Commerce is calling on local businesses to support families affected by the ongoing government shutdown.
In an email sent to about 2,000 contacts, the chamber asked businesses to offer discounts to military members and federal employees who may be working without pay. They also encouraged businesses to post messages of appreciation and encouragement on their marquees as a sign of solidarity.
“We are such a strong military community that we sometimes forget there are federal employees out there as well — those working at TSA, in the National Weather Service, and others,” said Bossier chamber President Lisa Johnson. “We just want to let them know that we’ve got your back.”…
