Colorado Police K9 Loses Leg After Being Attacked and Stabbed Multiple Times

There are many of “man’s best friends” among Colorado law enforcement agencies, assisting in the execution of several duties. To think of any Colorado K9 officer getting gravely injured while on duty, hurts the heart. These dogs are brave and well-trained, but when the subject the team is after gets the upper hand, things can go bad.

Of course, being a human police officer has its perils, but it’s different when the officer is a dog. Their unconditional love, while also being a tough and highly-trained officer, makes them beloved members of any team that they’re a part of. When a K9 officer retires, they always get a party; a party that they don’t quite understand, but that’s OK.

On October 15, 2025, K9 Officer Roam, part of the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD,) was gravely injured when officers responded to a report of a domestic violence protection order violation. Upon the PDs arrival, a suspected had barricaded himself inside the residence; CSPD deployed a tactical and a K9 personnel to assist in resoling the situation…
