Mecklenburg County faces growing feral cat population crisis

MECKLENBURG COUNTY, N.C. — Mecklenburg County is home to an estimated 100,000 to 200,000 community cats, a problem that often goes unnoticed.

Jennifer Barthel of Friends of Feral Felines joined WCNC Charlotte during a live interview on WCNC+ to discuss the issue on National Feral Cat Day, explaining that these unowned cats are common worldwide but frequently overlooked locally.
