Local competition aims to reduce gun violence

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — The city of Grand Rapids is holding a competition to reduce gun violence in the community.

The SAFE Task Force, which stands for Safe Alliances For Everyone, is a competition offering $10,000 dollars to organizations with pitches to reduce violence. Up to five organizations are offered by the task force.

Last year’s winners, Darryl Jackson and Anthony Williams, worked with kids through their organization, NextGen Arts and Technology, on their film “Streets Decoded.”…
