Knox County leaders working to install pedestrian bridge in Corryton

CORRYTON, Tenn. (WVLT) – Knox County is closing in on beginning work on a new pedestrian bridge in Corryton.

Because traffic can get heavy throughout Knox County, leaders are wanting to keep students and other people away from the Tazewell Road between Gibbs Middle and High Schools. To do this, the county is looking to install a pedestrian bridge.

Knox County Senior Chief Engineer Jim Snowden said Emory Road and Tazewell Pike both have a lot of traffic. He said there’s between 12,000 and 15,000 cars that travel the roads each day at about 40 miles per hour…
