Two Arrested After Kearny Home Burglaries Lead to Newark Pursuit

Two men were arrested on October 17 following two forced-entry residential burglaries in Kearny and an attempted burglary in Union. The arrests came after a multi-agency vehicle pursuit that ended in Newark, according to a Kearny Police Department press release.

Police said the incidents began in the early morning hours when suspects broke into two occupied Kearny homes. A 2021 Mercedes-Benz AMG was stolen from one of the residences and later used in an attempted burglary in Union.

Kearny detectives used investigative technology to locate the stolen vehicle in Newark. When officers attempted to surveil the car, the suspects fled, initiating a pursuit. The chase ended when the vehicle crashed at the intersection of 14th Avenue and Speedway Avenue. Both occupants fled on foot but were arrested with the assistance of the Newark Police Department, New Jersey State Police, Essex County Sheriff’s Office, Union Police Department, and Homeland Security Investigations…
