A Villager who fled a store wearing boots she had allegedly stolen was arrested when she returned to the scene of the crime.
Jessica Renae White, 39, of the Village of Virginia Trace, was recognized Wednesday when she walked into the Boot Barn at Lady Lake Crossing, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department.
A Boot Barn employee remembered White from an incident on May 12 in which she selected a pair of boots from a display shelf, put them on her feet and walked out of the store without paying for them. The Texas native fled the store in a golf cart.
Law enforcement was summoned to the store on Wednesday, and an officer confirmed it was White, who had been captured on surveillance on May 12 in the boot heist at the store. She has distinctive tattoos on her arms that were seen in the surveillance images. White admitted she had switched her boots with the boots which had been on display.
