A devastating head-on collision on State Road 40 in Lake County claimed the life of one person last night. As reported by ClickOrlando, the Florida Highway Patrol stated that a 71-year-old man from Ocklawaha, driving a 2002 Cadillac Escalade, was killed when his vehicle crossed the median into the opposite lane and collided with a semitrailer.
The accident occurred just past 8:30 p.m. near Deerfly Road, during which the Escalade entered the lane for oncoming traffic, setting the stage for the fatal incident. Traveling in the eastbound direction, a 2025 Freightliner semi-tractor-trailer driven by a 49-year-old Colorado man with a 25-year-old Californian as a passenger was struck head-on.
