Long Beach Resident Fatally Shot; Suspect Jose Garcia-Linares Arrested and Faces Possible Charges

Long Beach has been the site of a grim investigation following the fatal shooting of Thomas Mello, 36, a local resident, on October 12. According to KTLA, the Long Beach Police Department responded to reports of a shooting on Falcon Avenue around 1:30 a.m. and discovered Mello with a gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital, but sadly, did not survive.

The suspect, Jose Garcia-Linares, 25, was identified and apprehended by the police. Details surrounding the motive and whether the victim and suspect were acquainted remain undisclosed. Garcia-Linares, reportedly experiencing homelessness at the time, was located and arrested on the same day the shooting occurred, as stated in a release which was also published by the Long Beach Police Department’s official website. The case has been presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for possible charges.

Officials have been urging the public to come forward with any information related to the case, seeking to shed light on the circumstances that led to this violent incident.
