’90s Country Legend, 62, Hospitalized Hours Before Taking Stage

Country singer Mark Chesnutt, 62, was admitted to a Baton Rouge hospital on Thursday night, October 16, before he was set to open for Alabama at the Raising Cane’s River Center.

Venue officials confirmed to Baton Rouge CBS affiliate WBRZ that Chesnutt was taken to a local hospital for “medical reasons,” and that his band performed in his place. No additional details about his condition have yet been released.

Chesnutt is currently scheduled to continue his U.S. tour with dates running through mid-November, including stops in New Mexico, Indiana, West Virginia, and Ohio. As of press time, it’s not yet known whether any upcoming shows will need to be postponed.
