AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) – On this episode of the Yellow City Rundown for the week of Oct. 13 through 17, we focus on Fermi America and the City of Amarillo water agreement and what Amarillo National Bank is doing to help local government employees affected by the shutdown.

Top the Panhandle:
- Water agreement with Fermi, City of Amarillo
- The City of Amarillo has approved the first reading of the water agreement with Fermi America.
- Fermi America will use a minimum of 2.5 million gallons per day. A maximum would be 10 MGD.
- According to Mayor Cole Stanley, Fermi will be contributing $200M of its own infrastructure.
- Stanley emphasized that the City of Amarillo is a seller, and if the city wanted to benefit from the sale of the water, the city could “greatly help our citizens.”
- Over 30 Amarillo residents spoke out about the water agreement and Fermi during the city council meeting
- Those in favor of Fermi emphasized jobs, the overall economic impact, and the location.
- Those not in favor of Fermi emphasized the use of water, impact on local homes and health, and lack of transparency.
- Community Liaison Trent Sizemore and Will Masters, director with Ogallala Life, spoke to MyHighPlains.com about the agreement and overall project.
- Sizemore emphasized that the company expects to improve the efficiency over time to recycle water.
- However, Masters noted that additional industrial demand could strain the aquifer and drive up long-term costs.
- The water supply agreement passed its first reading on Tuesday and is scheduled for a second and possible final vote on Oct. 28.

- Amarillo National Bank gives back
- Amarillo National Bank is deferring loan payments and waiving fees for employees impacted by the government shutdown.
- Mortgages: ANB will offer forbearances on mortgage payments for up to six months or until the end of the government shutdown, whichever comes first.
- Consumer Loans: All installment loan customers affected by the shutdown will be able to defer the next scheduled payment to the end of the note.
- Credit Cards: ANB will defer the next payment and waive the interest accrued to that payment date.
- Short-Term Low-Interest Personal Loans: Contact your local branch for additional details.
- Amarillo National Bank is deferring loan payments and waiving fees for employees impacted by the government shutdown.
