City dismissed from amended Our Daily Bread lawsuit

The City of Denton and five of its top officials were dismissed from the civil lawsuit involving Our Daily Bread on Oct. 13. The suit accused the city and the shelter of fraud and obstruction in its review.

The ruling came less than two weeks after former shelter resident 38-year-old Adam Horwitz, who uses the pronouns she/they, filed an amended 700-page petition on Oct. 3, expanding her case against the city and the nonprofit that operates the shelter.

“I have a case, like, what they did and continue to do to me and to many others, is wrong,” Horwitz said. “The facts on the record show that, and if I do not pursue this, then they are just going to keep on doing it.”…
