One year after deadly Mississippi bridge collapse, hopes for reopening

JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – One year ago today, tragedy struck near the small town of D’Lo, Mississippi, when a bridge collapse, which killed three construction workers and left four critically injured, shook the community.

“To me, it reminded me, basically, of 9/11,” said John Berry, Mayor of D’Lo. “I mean, I guess that would be the magnitude of our small town of something that major happening. I’ve been in the fire department over 30-something years and I’d never witnessed anything like that.”
