A St. Cloud police officer who crashed into a bus on an Apple Valley highway while off duty earlier this week is not expected to survive, according to St. Cloud Police Chief Jeffrey Oxton.
The officer, 44-year-old Ryan Ebert of Big Lake, was driving north on Highway 77 just south of Interstate 35E when his Ram pickup truck crashed with a transit bus and ran into the cable barrier around 10 p.m. Monday, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
Little has been released to the public about the circumstances surrounding the crash, but the State Patrol’s initial crash report indicated alcohol was in Ebert’s system at the time and he was not wearing a seat belt. The bus driver, a 65-year-old Apple Valley man, was also taken to a hospital and is expected to survive…
