A cold front is at our doorstep and will bring us more showers and storms. Thunderstorms have already developed to the northwest.
As more storms fire up in Western Kansas they will track southwest to northeast and be oriented in a narrow line. We will also need to keep a close eye on them.
There is a threat for a couple of strong to severe storms. All forms of severe weather will be possible.
Please be weather aware. While the threat of a tornado is low, it is not zero.
The cold front will move slowly today. This will keep showers and storms mainly in Western Kansas through the afternoon and evening. The severe threat will wind down after midnight.
Portions of Northern and Western Kansas will begin to feel the effects of the cold front as high temperatures dip down into the 70s. The rest of us will still be in the 80s.
As the front keeps tracking east through the Sunflower State during the night it will keep a few showers and storms around into Friday.
Skies stay unsettled through Friday, especially between Central and Eastern Kansas. Rainfall could be heavy at times.
The threat of strong to severe storms shifts east. Damaging wind gusts and large hail are the main threats.
Timing for the strongest storms Friday will be during the evening and overnight.
Some leftover storms early Saturday will mainly be around and east of the Kansas Turnpike. There is a small chance that a storm or two redevelops east of the turnpike late in the afternoon but we will quickly clear back out during the evening. The rest of the weekend will be dry.
Once the fall feel returns it will stick around for a while. After Saturday, skies are looking dry at least until late next week.
