RENTON, Wash. — Renton police, in collaboration with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), executed a federal narcotics warrant early Thursday morning, leading to the dismantling of a narcotics trafficking ring, Renton police said.
The operation sparked rumors of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) activity in the area; KOMO News confirmed it was not ICE but the DEA executing warrants in a drug trafficking case.
Assistant Chief Jarod Kasner with Kent Police addressed circulating rumors, “It has come to our attention that there are rumors circulating in the community about a possible immigration operation at the New Beginnings Christian Fellowship on the East Hill in Kent. Those rumors are not correct. The facts are that it was a DEA operation. We want to confirm that Kent was not involved. The city will continue to keep the community informed with factual and transparent information.”…
