In partnership with the Los Alamos National Laboratory, the University of Michigan is planning to build a $1.25 billion data center in Ypsilanti. Samantha Stewart, Ypsilanti resident and Stop The Data Center organizer, opposes the center due to the water and electricity consumption, which have the potential to double power costs for residents. She also discussed her dislike for the amount of power the University has over communities and its exemption from zoning laws.
