‘Hypocritical’: Leaders react to nearly $20 million cuts to Great Start programs

ALLEGAN, Mich. — Childhood programs across Michigan are feeling the strain after all of their funding was cut in this year’s state budget.

The budget, signed by Gov. Gretchen Whitmer on Oct. 7, slashes $19.4 million dollars in funding for Great Start Collaborative programs, which offer community resources to address barriers for kids and families and provide support for early childhood development.
