Southern Indiana child care providers close after state voucher rate changes

NEW ALBANY, Ind. — Mary Rudolph’s fourth child care location is a few weeks away from opening. She owns Where Kids Count Childcare and has been working on her recent investment on Vincennes Street in New Albany for over a year.

Rudolph worries that 21 years of serving children may be at risk, forcing her to open one location while closing others.

“I just want to try to survive,” Rudolph said. “I don’t even know if we’re going to get kids.”…
