Ken Burns previews upcoming documentary series in RI

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — Well-known documentarian Ken Burns made a stop in Rhode Island Thursday to preview an upcoming documentary series of his that will be airing next month on PBS.

Burns, along with directors of “The American Revolution,” held an hour-long presentation and showed a 15-minute preview of the series at the R.I. State House.

“I’m so happy to be able to spend a couple of days in Rhode Island to celebrate Rhode Island’s role in this, to share with students and with its citizens the story that we’ve spent nearly a decade trying to make,” Burns said.

Burns is known for a number of his documentaries over the years such as “The Civil War,” released in 1990, “Baseball,” “Jazz” and “The Vietnam War.”…
