‘Neighbors helping neighbors:’ Rochester business owner extends helping hand to TSA in time of need

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) – As the ongoing government shutdown enters week three, many TSA employees continue to work in airports across the nation without receiving pay. Some of these agents are part of the Rochester community.

Because of this, the owner of People’s Choice Kitchen Evangela “Van” Stanley wanted to do something to help. Given her restaurant’s close proximity to the airport, she explained how she feels especially unsettled knowing these workers are not actively being paid.

“It breaks my heart,” Stanley said. “To hear that [the TSA agents] are getting up every single morning, going to work and knowing there won’t be a paycheck at the end of the week breaks my heart.”…
